Leo Kandl, born in Mistelbach in 1944, is Otto Breicha Award winner for photography. Kandl's photographs are dialogues in which he establishes a connection with the world on the other side of the camera with sensitivity and patience. His quality is the unvarnished view of life. Leo Kandl pays homage to his subjects. His restraint leaves his subject room to unfold and be authentic. Impressive is the range he has unpretentiously covered over 50 years as an author-photographer. From the wine house portraits to the Free Portraits in the USA. From the fragments of the war archives of the Stiftskaserne to the crystal collections of the Art Chamber of the Museum of Art History.
