Torsten Neeland

"Perspektiven"

Exhibition during Vienna Design Week 2016

On the occasion of the 10th anniversary of Vienna Design Week, gallery rauminhalt_harald bichler presents a selection of minimalistic design objects by Torsten Neeland (GB) entitled „Perspektiven“. As a core piece of the exhibition the gallery shows new tableware, created in collaboration with silversmiths Jarosinski & Vaugoin. For this special occasion London based sound artist Ben Lancaster composed a new sound composition, using fragments of sounds, created at the Vaugoin metal workshop. The composition accompanies the exhibition installation.

Torsten Neelands design approach is clear and direct. He believes that simplicity is very often a result of a complex process and the work being carried in the office is very much related to interdisciplinary thinking.
The hanging rails Urban Nomad 1 and 2, which result from a collaboration between Torsten Neeland and Y’s Yohji Yamamoto, represent this minimalistic design approach and are also core pieces of the exhibition.
Additional project, shown at the exhibition, include exclusive stone objects for the gallery rauminhalt, the rug Primary as well as the stage and costume designs for the dance piece “And Who Shall Go To The Ball” by the London based Candoco Dance Company. The selection of objects represents Torsten Neelands wide range of work.
